Chalk and Cheese: we look at the record when it comes to dropping charges. UMNO youth today complained about 14 charges allegedly dropped by the PH government against its own politicians. DAP's Teo Nie Ching takes us through those charges which are all linked to acts that ought to be protected by the right to freedom of speech, assembly and expression (and many were carried out not by PH politicians but NGOs). Allegations of 'terrorism' could not be substantiated.
Najib and a handful of others may see retribution, however Teo says the majority of UMNO leaders are involved in corruption, abuse of power and illegal money laundering. These charged individuals were released by Attorney General Idrus Harun despite clear cases lodged against them. Malaysia lost billions of ringgi thank to abuse of power by those in the current UMNO/BN government administration.

Menurut Teo majoriti kes yang digugurkan oleh PH adalah berkaitan akta hasutan, perhimpunan haram dan kes LTTE. Teo berpendapat tidak wajar menahan seseorang yang mendemonstasikan hak asasi untuk bercakap dan berhimpun. Maka adalah wajar mereka dibebaskan. Manakala kes berkaitan LTTE- kerajaan tidak ada maklumat untuk mengaitkan mereka dengan pengganas. Maka sewajarnya ia digugurkan. Tidak betul juga mengaitkan 14 kes terbabit dengan PH- kerana ramai nama yang disebut adalah NGO, NGI dan aktivis. Semua mereka berjuang untuk kebebasan bersuara.
Menurut Teo mojoriti pemimpin UMNO terbabit terbabit rasuah, salah guna kuasa dan penggubahan wang haram. Mereka dilepas dan dibebaskan oleh Peguam Negara Idrus Harun. Malaysia kerugian/kehilangan berbillion ringgit. Ini adalah kes salah guna kuasa dalam pentadbiran kerajaan UMNO/BN sekarang.

The effect of Najib Razak's imprisonment. UMNO Youth Leader Asraf Wajidi today attacked PH and listed 14 court cases that allegedly involved PH leaders being dropped during the 22 months of the PH administration. Among the 14 listed is the member of parliament for Buluh River - R. Sivarasa - case of displaying a fake poster of Najib Razak on FB. Hassan Abdul Karil- accused under the sedition act.
According to Teo, the majority of cases dropped by PH are related to acts of sedition, illegal assembly and LTTE cases. Teo thinks it is inappropriate to detain someone who is demonstrating the fundamental right to speak and assemble. So it is appropriate that they be released. As for the LTTE-related cases, the government has no information to link them to terrorists. So it should be dropped. It is also incorrect to associate the 14 cases involved with PH - because many of the names mentioned are NGOs, NGIs and activists. All of them fight for freedom of speech.
