Newness! What is God’s newness? Our understanding of newness in the human realm is formed around the concepts of restoration, renovation, renewal, repair, replacement, or refurbishment. However, the newness God promises is beyond these. God’s newness has dual arms—a restorative power from him to renew weak things in preexisting substances, and an ordinance of novelty—to bring into existence things that do not exist (Rom 4:17).
