We're picking up where we left of in our Red-Letter Bible study. We're leaving the well and going back to Cana where we saw Jesus' first sign. And interestingly, the theme picks back up right where He left them. People believed because of the signs. People were following Jesus. By this time, they knew Jesus by his signs. Jesus is teaching people to wrestle with the concept of faith. Still, most are still stuck in the physical. They want to see signs. Even Nicodemus didn't understand the spiritual connection. It takes quite a conversation at the well for the Samaritan woman to realize that living water is not actual water. These people see the events and believe. But the spirit is not a physical thing - so how do they bridge that gap - it's not easy to explain. This is exactly why faith is a progressive revelation. It may even be why God gave us the gift of time. And most importantly... the inspired Word of God.
