Contrast between Abraham and Jonah.  Abraham wanted God to show mercy and grace for the People of Sodom, while Jonah want God to destroy the city of Nineveh.
God is patient, his kindness and compassion lead to repentance  
We may look and ask, why hasn’t god wiped us out yet; because we have been justified through 
Christ, therefore righteous in his eyes.
 
2 Peter 3:9 states, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. 
Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to 
repentance"
