Episode Synopsis

Award-winning editor, Taylor Joy Mason, of HBO's critically-acclaimed series, A Black Lady Sketch Show, made history as part of the first all-Black editing team to win an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.  On this episode, Taylor talks about her HBCU experience at Howard University and it feeling similar to working on A Black Lady Sketch Show, how majoring in journalism introduced her to the world of editing and why growing up in Seattle helped navigate post-production environments where a lack of inclusion was present.  Taylor's credits include Lena Waithe's Twenties, Pose (Steven Canals, Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy's Emmy-winning series), Phoebe Robinson's Everything's Trash and Netflix's Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Taylor's currently editing a horror film and she shares not only the way she approaches her work when it oscillates between wildly different genres but also what truly excites her about working in the industry as an editor and how networking and the power of connections have helped guide her successful career.  Stay tuned for more episodes of Post In Black's third season as we continue to amplify the stories and experiences of Black professionals working in post-production.
