Listen "As the Rain and the Snow Come Down (Ep 28)"
Episode Synopsis
One of the most encouraging passages to me as a pastor is Isaiah 55:9-11. It reads:
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
When I read that, I see this truth: God will accomplish all he desires every time I preach. The pressure is off me. He will achieve his purposes through his word.
I was so blessed by the words of this three-verse word from God that I wrote a song based on it a few years ago. I wrote it as a reminder to me to just keep teaching God's word faithfully. I hope it will encourage others who do the same.
Verse 1:
As the heavens are above the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways.
As the heavens are above the earth,
So are my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Verse 2:
As the rain and the snow come down
And water all the earth,
So that it produces a harvest,
So is my word from my mouth.
It will not return to me empty,
But will accomplish all I desire.
Verse 3:
Let the rain of your word come down.
Water the soil of our spirits.
In our hearts produce a harvest,
By the word from your mouth.
It will not return to you empty,
But will accomplish all you desire.
