Approaching the fifth anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, the official plaque honoring the police who defended democracy that day is nowhere to be found. It’s not on display at the Capitol, as is required by law. Its whereabouts aren't publicly known, though it’s believed to be in storage.  Northern California's Republican Congressman Doug LaMalfa has died at 65 years old. LaMalfa represented California's 1st District, which spans from Siskiyou County along the Oregon border through rural Shasta and Sutter Counties.
