Town Councillor Anne Stephenson chairs the Hampshire & Isle of Wight branch of the Huntington's Disease Association; she lost her husband to the disease some years ago. Their recent AGM  featured an IVF-type process that prevents the defective gene that causes the disease being passed on to children, which was a very uplifting story. but the big news was of a dramatic medical breakthrough which made the national and international news. AMT 130 - delivered in one dose during brain surgery reduces the progression of the disease by 75% and they hope it will be approved by the end of 2026 in the US. There are also hopes the process could have other applications with diseases like Alzheimers'.
