Throughout their conversation, Derek shared about his entry to athletics, and how he used running track to attend the University of Virginia on an athletic scholarship. Mike and Derek also reflected on how athletics has continued to play a pivotal role in his life, from running numerous Broad Street Runs to getting out on the water to row at 5am. In addition, Derek shared a bit about the work he does in the community, to include serving on nonprofit boards like the Special Olympics Pennsylvania, and as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi.
