1 Kings 3:16-26... Then the woman whose son [was] living spoke to the king, FOR SHE YEARNED WITH COMPASSION FOR HER SON; and she said, "O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill him!" But the other said, "Let him be neither mine nor yours, [but] divide [him.]"
When you have pushed the baby out of your womb, you will not speak carelessly about it but you will yearn with compassion for it. I pray that the Holy Spirit will transport you to that place and make you pregnant with something during these 21 days of fasting and prayer so that your prayers about it can be hearty and filled with it's emotion and pain.
It is your attitude during the prayer and fasting that adds meaning and brings forth results. It is religion that delights in heartless spiritual activities (2 Timothy 3:5).
You do not need to probe a pregnant woman in a labour ward to cry. What is on the inside of her will make her wail in controllably. Do not bring professionalism in your prayers. God desires a fresh and yearning passion from your heart, not a routine. (Revelation 2:4)
When it is there, you cannot hold it back, it burns because it is real and not fake. ( Jeremiah 20:9)
Jonah 2:8
If you are going to attract the mercies of God you cannot build the foundation of your spirituality on lies, deception, or falsehood, you have to be real with God.
Proverbs 14:10 The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share its joy.
You can not lie to your heart. If your heart has it, it knows it and any stranger cannot share with or understand it. If the people and nations are still questioning where our God is, we cannot settle at all. (Joel 2:17)
1 Samuel 1:8-10 Then Elkanah her husband said to her, "Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? [Am] I not better to you than ten sons?" So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle of the LORD. And she [was] in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept in anguish.
Did Hannah have to wait for ten years for the burden to become grievous to her? No!. She was casual at first but she got to a point where she could not bare it anymore and the kind of desperate prayer she made brought forth a supernatural child. ( 1 Samuel 1:13-18)
God is no respect of persons, We are all children of God but what either qualifies or disqualifies us is our heart attitude during these seasons of fasting and prayer.
Do you have a casual attitude about this fast?. Everytime the nation of Israel or individuals engaged in a fast with the right attitude of desperation towards God, great results were born.
It was always a matter of life and death, solely depending on God because all the other sources of help were exhausted. For example;
1. Esther and all the jews fasted. She risked her life and God saved the jews. (Esther 4:16.)
2. In the days of Jehoshaphat, the king and the entire nation of Judah desperately fasted and sought the help of God then God supernaturally saved them. ( 2 Chronicles 20)
3. In the days of prophet Jonah, the people of Nineveh accepted the prophetic message and all desperately engaged in fasting to seek the help of God and were spared. ( Jonah 3:5.)
This must be the same attitude we must carry. When desperate people pour their hearts before God, He comes through for them.
The attitude you carry during the fast is more powerful than the fast itself.
