Trees provide shade, increase property values, clean our air, and make our neighborhoods more connected to our place. But these benefits are not evenly distributed. Some neighborhoods get more of the benefits of trees than others. Journalists Josie Burak and Maegan Jeters spend time with Friends of Trees, a group trying to bring more of the benefits of trees to all of the neighborhoods in the twin cities of Springfield and Eugene at the southern end of the Willamette River Valley in western Oregon.
