Reuven’s Missed Opportunity. We can’t fix all problems, but we can fix the ones we can. This week’s Parsha presents us with a tragic story of missed opportunities.  Reuven is the first firstborn of the Torah with whom we can closely identify; he is Yaakov’s son. He’s gentle and dedicated to his mother’s well-being. A deferential person, who is sensitive to his brother’s pain – but in the moment of truth he is nowhere to be found. At the critical juncture, when history hangs in the balance, Reuven is MIA.
