Listen "#29 | Walking with God"

Episode Synopsis

In this episode we take a more relational look at the story of the flood. Specifically, we look at how the deepening of the corruption in human nature during the time of Noah affected God. It caused him deep sorrow to watch people participate in their own corruption. God's relationship with people at that time was described as striving, or contending. God was trying to get people to move in one direction, but they resisted God and went in their own direction. But there was this one person named Noah who actually allowed God to lead him - he walked with God wherever God led him. Noah had such a close and trusting relationship with God that when God told him that a flood was coming, and to build a massive boat on dry land to save his family and other living creatures, he did it.
Peter uses the story of Noah, and the promise of a coming judgment, as a parallel to our story and the second coming of Christ in judgment. In both stories, God works with people in a caring and patient way to give them every opportunity to change directions and start walking with God. The interesting thing is that both Genesis 5-9 and 2 Peter 3 share a common timeframe of 1000 years.
