Listen "2 Samuel Chapter 7: Unification & Restoration"
Episode Synopsis
On this this week's edition of One Single Story, Pastors Stephen Mizell, Chris Rexroad, and Sheryl Daughety discuss the themes of the Book of Second Samuel. Second Samuel chapter 7 tells of an interaction with David and Samuel about the possibility of David building a temple. But God doesn't want David to build a temple, God wants David's offspring to do it. Samuel was the last of the judges, but he was also a prophet and priest. Why might God be splitting these roles up and how can we learn from that as church leaders today? Did God change His mind or was Nathan wrong? This is the fourth covenant of scripture: the Noahic Covenant, the Abrahamic Covenant, The Mosaic Covenant, the Davidic Covenant and the New Covenant. What do covenants say about God? What specifically does this covenant say about God? Why did God choose David for the lineage of Jesus? Have you ever done something for another person thinking you were doing something great for them, only to feel like they rejected your kindness? Should we be concerned about a place for God to dwell such as a church or physical building? Why was David not chosen to build the temple? What should our response be to the promises of God?
