"One Day I Decided... to take a break from drinking."
Karen from New Zealand also known as @Sober_Kazza on IG found her sobriety in the midst of a global pandemic. Karen describes how living in Auckland, New Zealand and being accustom to the culture of normalized excessive alcohol intake contributed to her skewed vision of what sobriety really is. Karen shares her story and reflects on the early stages of finding out what life is really like when the wine bottles gone. Karen shares a vision of who she hopes to be in her recovery and how seeking joy, optimism and happiness is not always the easiest task but was necessary for our mental health. We discuss the struggles of finding "easy" joy in the little things, and learning to find the art of allowing certain upsets to roll off our shoulders and the power of kindness.
