In the late 1700s, the Quaker Ellicott brothers moved from Pennsylvania to Elder’s Landing, Maryland … to build a flour mill on the banks of the Patapsco River--larger than typical grist mills nearby. Architectural historian and author Henry Sharp argues that the Ellicott brothers’ mill played a key role, not just in the growth of Maryland, but also in the Industrial Revolution.Henry Sharp will be speaking at an event on March 19th at the Charles E.
