Unknown 0:01Good morning, everyone. It is Sunday, April 24, very early Sunday morning, you've had quite interesting weather that's taking place over this country over the past couple of days. We're going to focus on North Platte, Nebraska over the past couple of days. Let's go back to Friday. High temperature in North Platte, Nebraska says the National Weather Service was a sizzling 97 degrees. That's something absolutely amazing. We also had a relative humidity really low at that time. But the winds were very high. If you look at the National Weather Service, the climatological data that will show that the heat index was only 91 degrees. That's because of the very low relative humidity the very low dew points to temperatures in the upper 40s. However, there is one very important thing to point out over here is that the winds were 31 miles per hour out of the south, that's the sustained winds for 31 miles per hour from the south, it's the 31, the 31 mile power that's very significant here, and that that changes everything, the heat index would have been lower than the temperature as the National Weather Service says based upon the humidity alone. The heat and humidity, the heat index chart is based upon winds assuming the winds are 5.6 miles per hour approximately. So if you were to have that you were to have light winds in North Point in Nebraska on Friday, the temperature would have actually felt like 91 degrees. And that's talking about at a time, that's a time when it was 96 degrees. So when it was 97, let's say the heat index probably was 92 degrees. But there's something else that's not well known. And that's when the winds are really strong, and the temperatures are 95 degrees or higher. The winds will actually make it feel hotter than what it actually is, unless the relative humidity is really high. Or we should say the humidity is really high. If the humidity isn't 100%, the winds will still make it feel cooler, winds ordinarily make it feel cooler, the winter still make you feel cooler, if the relative humidity is really high. It's really complex, because the heat index is going to be way up there, because the relative humidity is really high or you should say the humidity, but the winds are actually going to make that heat index lower than what it would have been. But in a situation when it's dry when the relative humidity is under 40%. Which in North Platte, Nebraska, it was probably around 20% a 30 mile per hour wind is actually going to make it feel hotter outside. Let's go ahead and say for now the temperature probably felt about what it was 97 degrees, maybe it's like 98 degrees. It certainly felt one or two degrees warmer than what the heat index is being reported from the National Weather Service. That heat index again is based upon the heat and humidity. The question is, was it one or two degrees warmer than the temperature or was a one or two degrees warmer than the heat index, that heat index would have been 92 degrees that would have made the new heat index or the real field temperature 94 degrees or was viewfield temperature 98 degrees or 99 degrees that's something that is needs to be looked into currently in North Dakota right now we have a blizzard warning in effect, there's heavy snow that's falling all over the place. We also have an ice storm taking place in that part of the region. This is phenomenal stuff that's going on. The closed LO is filling in therefore the conveyor belt of moisture feeding into the storm system is being caught off right now. However there still is plenty of moisture on the backside of the storm system reports the National Weather Service so the precipitation rates will remain heavy for the remainder of the night through at least mid morning.
