Episode Synopsis
Sophie Cadle was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Washington Heights. In this interview, she talks about growing up "fast" in New York City, where she explored the underground LGBT community and left home at a young age. Sophie shares her experiences with homelessness, the criminal justice system/Rikers, mental health, and suicidal ideation. As she has gotten older, Sophie has developed a practice of self care and is now an advocate for LGBT youth experiencing homelessness. She is involved with Point Source Youth and the NYC Continuum of Care Youth Action Board. (Summary by Evie Zavidow.)
