Listen "Episode 036 - Dooa"
Episode Synopsis
I first became aware of Dooa a few years ago when a friend of mine asked me to wave the flag and start the Plymouth 10K. I stood on the bleachers, the start horn sounded, I waved the flag and then proceeded to watch a sea of runners sync their watches and sip their water as they sprinted off to take part in the race.
Towards the tail end of that wave was Dooa, the only wheelchair athlete who had entered the race. I watched her push across the start line, clearly in the zone ready and primed to race and then she was gone.
I didn’t manage to see her at the end as the place was jammed but often when driving through our home town of Plymouth I’d spot her out and about but never found the right opportunity to say hello.
Then out of the blue Dooa sent me a DM about coming on the Podcast and here we are.
I think you’re really going to enjoy this one because Dooa has a great story to tell. As she’s telling it try and put yourself in her shoes and imagine some of the adversity that she’s overcome.
She truly is a remarkable woman and someone I’m very proud to have had on the show.
Enjoy.....
