Robert Anton Wilson and the Origins of Chaos Magick with Gabriel Kennedy
Gabriel Kennedy (aka Prop Anon) is the author of Chapel Perilous: The Life & Thought Crimes of Robert Anton Wilson. He is also a visual artist and musician.
Gabriel Kennedy discusses how Robert Anton Wilson’s work inspired the evolution of chaos magick and the countercultural exploration of belief as a transformative tool. He traces the movement’s roots through Discordianism, the Illuminatus! Trilogy, and the Maybe Logic Academy, where Wilson’s playful skepticism shaped a new magical paradigm. Kennedy also examines chaos magick’s modern expressions through figures like Peter Carroll, Phil Hine, and Grant Morrison, revealing its enduring impact on art, psychology, and self-liberation.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death. He is Co-Director (with Callum Cooper) of Parapsychology Education at the California Institute for Human Science.
