In these verses, Paul encourages Timothy to make sure that he can recognize behaviors that lead to destruction and to guard and guide the church away from them. This list is just as important for us today and it encourages us to say no to sin and say yes to Jesus and his ways - not in order to live morally, but to live lives of power that point to Jesus and his love and goodness.
