Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an area of strategic importance and a key driver of economic development everywhere and especially in Europe. At the Ministerial Programme of Mobile World Congress 2018, we asked Gunnar Hökmark, MEP from Sweden, Pilar del Castillo, MEP from Spain, and Claire Bury, deputy Director-General of DG CONNECT, European Commission, how the AI will transform Europe and how policy makers can help to create innovation-friendly environment for European businesses? ---- The GSMA’s prestigious Ministerial Programme brings together the world’s most influential telecommunications leaders to explore the policies and actions needed to create a better future through mobile. In 2018, the Programme welcomed record numbers with more than 2000 attendees, including 181 delegations representing 151 countries and 30 international organisations. The event attracted 71 ministers, 84 heads of regulatory authorities and 159 CEOs.
