Listen "Best Music by State: Tennessee"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textIn this episode Nate and Kyle once again visit, figuratively of course, one of the United States and try to figure out what, if any, good music comes from that state. This Week that state is Tennessee... I hear you saying, "That's a softball, surely there isn't an easier state what with Memphis and Nashville within the borders..." and I can hear myself saying right back at you, "it definitely wasn't that easy, and don't call me Shirley." There is some great music from this state and a lot of it isn't Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus, so listen as the hosts take you on a journey of musical discovery as they discover the lesser knowns, all of what's hiding under the popular and recognizable exports from the great state of Tennessee. This week's Playlist: Best of States: TNProtomen (Murfreesboro - MTSU)Light Up The NightIn The Air Tonight (Phil cover)Princes of the Universe (Queen cover)Self (Murfreesboro) MonogamyCould You Love Me NowRunawayWhat a Fool Believes (Doobie Brothers cover)The Katies (Clinton, Murfreesboro)DrownerNoggin’ Poundin’The Features (Sparta) From Now OnTemporary Blues This DisorderThe Idea of Growing OThose Darlins (Nashville) Be Your BroNight JoggerRed Light LoveDe Novo Dahl (Hendersonville)All Over TownBig Star (Memphis)ThirteenSeptember GurlsAlex Chilton (Replacements song about Alex Chilton, lead singer of Big Star)“...I never travel far without a little Big Star.”Aubrie Sellers (Nashville) Wicked GameJust to be With YouHaven’t Even Kissed Me YetRoseanne Cash (Memphis - Mostly)I don’t know why you don’t want meSeven Year Ache (w/the Golden Smog)I Was Watching YouGirl From the North Country (Johnny Cash/Bob Dylan cover)Pink Bedroom (John Hiatt cover)Tora Tora (Memphis)Walkin’ ShoesRoyal Court of China (Nashville)It’s All ChangedHalf the TruthWill Hoge (Franklin)Secondhand HeartGoodbye Ain’t Always GoneEven If It Breaks Your Heart (smash hit for the Eli Young Band)Jesus Came to TennesseeGrowing Up Around HereLucero (Memphis)Last Night in TownBack in OhioWent Looking for Warren Zevon’s Los AngelesSweet Little ThingBis-Quits (Nashville)Tommy’s on His OwnTennessee Valley GirlThe Powers That BeGiant (Nashville) Innocent DaysStayThe Civil Wars (Loretto/Nashville)Barton HollowI Want You Back (cover)Saliva (Bartlett)-Rest in Pieces (their best song…written by James Michael & Nikki Sixx of Sixx A.M.)- Southern GirlsMusicatarationalvolume.com@MARVpodcast on Twittermusicatatrationvolume profile on Spotify for episode playlists based on topics discussedSupport the Podcast at : Buy Me A CoffeeMusicatarationalvolume.com@MARVpodcast on Twittermusicatatrationvolume profile on Spotify for episode playlists based on topics discussed
