Michael Sweet is the lead singer for Christian Heavy Metal band Stryper. Well known for their highpitched vocals, black and yellow spandex suits and throwing Bibles out from the stage, Stryper has the sound and look of bands like Van Halen and Bon Jovi but with a Christian message. The name "Stryper" derives from the Bible "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed in Isaiah 53:5. With songs like, "To Hell with the Devil," "In God we Trust," "No More Hell to Pay'" and "God Damn Evil" they have received grammy nominations, Top 40 hits and Dove awards.
