Other than getting engaged to his now-fiancee Kaitlyn, Michael Gilbert had a pretty awful 2022. It started with a broken ankle in the MotoAmerica round at Road America and ended with the broken femur he suffered at Ridge Motorsports Park. The ankle should have ended his season and the femur most definitely did. But Gilbert is back,  the femur is healed and recent surgery on his ankle has fixed all that ailed him. The Californian recently announced his 2023 program and it involves him moving back to the MotoAmerica Supersport series on a Team Hammer-built Suzuki GSX-R750.
