They have a cartilage-like plate that helps them "rasp" the flesh they want to eat from the carcass. Or, their body is like a digestive organ and it's more efficient for them to digest their food through their skin than through their stomach!Hagfish slime expands at an amazing rate and volume. So, they only need to secrete a little bit to create lots and lots of slime.And, just one more "did you know"...Hagfish slime is one of the softest substances ever recorded.
