When Mark Hughes was appointed City manager in the summer of 2008, he brought with him his backroom staff from his previous role at Blackburn Rovers - and that included his assistant manager, Mark Bowen. It was a turbulent time, as the club was close to administration before Thaksin Shinawatra sold it to Sheikh Mansour during their first season at Eastlands.
