Right now, the mountain is enjoying mid-winter packed powder and wind buff, topped off with a layer of wind-blown sugar. The base at Main Lodge is a solid 100 inches, with 103 inches at the Snow Study Site (9,000 feet), 140 inches at McCoy Station (9,800 feet), and a whopping 179 inches at the summit (11,053 feet).In the last 24 and 48 hours, there hasn't been any new snowfall, and the forecast doesn't predict any significant snowfall in the next 48 hours either[1]. However, the current conditions are fantastic, with all lifts and runs open. The wind buff with sugar on top is making everything from groomers to mid and upper mountain runs as good as it gets.Currently, the weather is cloudy early, then clearing up later in the day. The temperature at the summit is 33°F, with winds from the SW at 24 mph, gusting to 30 mph. Down at the Main Lodge, it's 48°F, with winds at the top of Chair 1 out of the NE at 41 to 53 MPH.Looking ahead, the weather forecast for the next 5 days shows clear skies with temperatures ranging from 38°F to 56°F at the base and 24°F to 36°F at the summit. There's a slight chance of fog on Friday and Saturday, but overall, it's shaping up to be a fantastic week and weekend out on Mammoth Mountain.Piste and off-piste conditions are excellent, with deep bases and all lines wide open. The Faces of 3 and 5 have a deep base, with all lines wide open and ride-to-ride. Off of Chair 5, Triangle, Waterfall, and the Bear are all fun. The corduroy on the Main Lodge groomers will be great over the next week, with packed powder in mid-winter form.As for the season total snowfall, Mammoth Mountain has seen 186 inches so far, with monthly totals of 3.5 inches in October, 62 inches in November, 37 inches in December, 9.5 inches in January, and 75 inches in February.All lifts and runs are open, with lift hours from 8:30 to 4 PM daily.
