Listen "Ramayan 11 - Part 2 Ch1: Into the Forest"
Episode Synopsis
In Part Two, Chapter 1 of Losing My Religion, Jeremy and Latha accompany Rama, Sita, and Lakshman as they set out into the forest, leaving behind the city of Ayodhya and its grieving people. The journey takes them along country paths toward the vast, untamed forest. Despite urging Sumantra to drive swiftly, the people of Ayodhya continue to follow them, unwilling to let go of their beloved prince. Rama, ever compassionate, stops to address the people, urging them to return and serve Bharata as they would have served him. However, the citizens' love for Rama keeps them close, and it is only by leaving during the night while the people sleep that Rama is able to proceed unhindered.
Jeremy and Latha explore the intense emotions of this journey—Rama's determination, the people's devotion, and the heartache of leaving behind loved ones. As they reach the banks of the Tamasa River, Rama decides to camp for the night. The next morning, they leave quietly, ensuring the citizens do not endure further hardship by trying to follow them. They travel onward, encountering scenic landscapes, dense forests, and the Ganges River, where they meet Guha, a loyal friend of Rama. Jeremy and Latha bring to life the tender moments of hospitality and friendship as Guha offers his kingdom's resources, though Rama humbly accepts only what is necessary.
This chapter is a mix of farewells, devotion, and the beginning of a new phase in Rama's life—a journey into the wilderness that tests their resilience and spirit. Settle in as Jeremy and Latha take you through the poignant farewells and the first steps into the forest—it's storytime like you've never heard before!
