Goddard, born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on the 5th of October 1882, was just an ordinary American boy. But a boy with a dream: to launch a rocket into orbit. His passion grew when his father gave him a telescope and when later, as an adolescent, he read H. G. Wells’ “War of the Worlds".
