Listen "Trapped In Poverty"
Episode Synopsis
Some countries such as Canada and Australia had the worst possible beginnings. Under constant attack by natives and far from any source of assistance, the early settlers faced incredible hardship and the harshest of conditions, to over time, build highly advanced civilizations. Whereas other, far older and better situated populations never made it far beyond the stone age, if that far. No amount of assistance has been enough to move them very far forward, and the advancements made are often due to external aid. But even in the most developed of nations, there are still people trapped in poverty. There does not seem to be any correlation between where the person starts or the amount of help they get. Whether a person or nation remains trapped in poverty appears to be unrelated to anything outside of themselves. This essay explains how to identify what really keeps people trapped in poverty and what can be done to overcome these intergenerational forces that keep people trapped in poverty.
