Why are abortionists not charged with a capital offense if the fetus is a child? Society is unable to deny the fetus is human yet few of us equate abortion with murder. However, the legal and moral explanation why an exception ought to be made in this case has never been made. The claim that the fetus is not a human life is an easy out. It is not a position rational persons wish to embrace. How then do we reconcile two irreconcilable positions, such as abortion is not murder, and the fetus is fully human? Natural law can and does provide a clear and reasonable explanation for the confusion.
