In Acts 16:16-40, we see a powerful story about faith when the ground begins to shake. Paul and Silas are imprisoned for casting a spirit out of a slave girl, but they continue to pray and sing hymns to God, even in their suffering. Suddenly, a violent earthquake shakes the prison, opening all the doors and loosening the prisoners' chains. Instead of escaping, Paul and Silas stay and prevent the jailer from harming himself, showing compassion and faith. The jailer is so moved by their actions that he asks how to be saved, and he and his entire household are baptized. This story teaches us that even in our darkest moments, God is with us, and our faith can inspire and transform others.
