Listen "Ep #19 Walking Through the Fire: Mindsets to Adopt During a Challenging Season"

Episode Synopsis

I once heard someone say everyone is in one of three stages, just come out of a trial, currently in one or about to step into one. We can agree that challenges are inevitable, but how can we go through the fire without giving up? In this episode, I share three mindsets we can adopt to help us journey through the difficult seasons of life.
Growth mindset.
A growth mindset believes that where they are and what they see isn't the end, that there is more beyond. There is joy after this season. It allows you to draw conclusions not on where you are today, or what you can see around you, but it allows you to live based on who you are becoming. A fixed mindset believes who you are and what you have are all there is, and the only change that happens is time passes by, you get older but no real change or growth happens.

If you are going through the fire, and you can’t see beyond where you are, I hope you can at least accept that you are able to grow beyond this point.

Believe that these trials are permitted by God but it is only for a season.
One of the most impactful views I hold is seeing life as a path. Not a collection of random events scattered over time. Seeing life as a journey you are on helps you to understand that the current difficulty is only present on this portion of the road.
So choose to see your challenge as a season. And seasons come and seasons go.

Have Realistic Expectations

If trials are comparable to fire, we best believe it will be excruciatingly painful. If things are getting worse and not better, understand that this is the nature of fire.

Understand that your life- mindset, relationships, lifestyle are being purified through this process. It is a matter of deciding how you want to interpret the process.

Do you see yourself as suffering needlessly, or are you being purified? If you are being purified, you’ll be able to speed up the process by learning the lessons being offered and giving up the limiting mindsets readily.
