Listen "#74 Managing Your Brain during a Pandemic"
Episode Synopsis
My heart is breaking for us all right now. With extraordinary changes to our everyday lives, we are all overwhelmed. I see so many mismanaged brains right now. And it’s not anyone’s fault.
Maybe you’ve seen other examples of people unable to adapt to all the changes we’ve been through the past four months or maybe you are experiencing the ups and downs of this emotional rollercoaster.
You might be overwhelmed, fed up, or angry. You might find yourself drinking more often, or binging shows on Netflix in order to distract from feeling so out of control.
Here’s what I know: to stop the coaster, we have to manage our brains. And to do this, we need to have the right information.
When we know how our brains function and understand our brains’ purpose, we are able to see our habitual patterns and change them for good. During a pandemic, during a crisis, and during the good times too, we can create new habits and patterns that serve us better.
In this episode, you will learn:
What your brain is designed to do.
Why our brains tend to lie to us about our safety.
What happens in your brain when you experience stress.
What occurs when you change your stories about how you manage stress.
One thing you can do today to manage your brain.
