1 Kings 18:21 the prophet Elijah goes head to head with the 450 prophets of the false god named Baal. But before doing so he confronts the people. “Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”
If those were the options at that time, what are our options now? It seems to me the choice we must make today is far more subtle because instead of some fake external deity we face something within ourselves. In other words, when it comes to all our interests, problems, or concerns, our lives are either going to be about our answer for these things or about seeking out God’s answer for them. And if I do choose the Lord as my God, I need to “follow him.” That is to say, in all my interests, problems, or concerns, I need to live each day standing on his promises.
