Listen "All He Does Is Maximum Possible Benefit"

Episode Synopsis

Psalm 145:9 declares, “The LORD is good to everyone; his compassion rests on all he has made.”
It seems to me that one of the greatest errors in biblical interpretation is to make a distinction between God doing something “for His sake” that is, for His benefit, and his doing something “for our sake” — for our benefit.
That distinction implies that God could treat something he has created in less than the highest and the best manner possible.  Frankly, that is an actual impossibility along the lines of imagining that God could create a square circle.  God's very nature — being love — means that whatever he does for His sake, is always invariably going to be the best thing that could ever happen in the highest interests of all creation. And whenever God does something for our sake, it is always in his highest interests.
In short, everything God does “for His sake” is always indistinguishable from him doing something “for our sake” — for our highest good and vice versa. If we could see the whole picture we would see that they occur simultaneously.
