Listen "Responding to Jesus"
Episode Synopsis
In this sermon on Mark 14:1-26, we explore the universal need for Jesus through the diverse responses of those who encountered Him in His final days. The chief priests and teachers of the law rejected Him outright, threatened by His challenge to their power, while the dinner guests, including Judas, wanted Jesus on their own terms, a stance that subtly led to betrayal. In contrast, a woman’s extravagant act of devotion—pouring costly perfume on Jesus—demonstrated true trust and embrace of His mission, preaching the gospel through her sacrifice. At the Passover meal, Jesus reveals that salvation comes not from our efforts, but from His body and blood given for us. This passage confronts our self-reliance and calls us to repent, trust, and cling to the cross, where we find forgiveness and hope, no matter who we are.
