Abortion advocates have spent years grasping for straws searching for any perceived justification for their draconian pro-abortion legislation. One of their favorite lies has been to claim that if we save the lives of unborn babies, it will cause the deaths of countless pregnant women and send the maternal mortality rate skyrocketing. Data shows that has not been the case. In 2023 the United States saw 669 maternal deaths according to the CDC. That represents a seventeen percent DROP in maternal deaths compared to 2022 and a forty three percent decline from 2021. While intervening factors like the pandemic should not be dismissed, the data is clear. Overturning Roe has not increased maternal mortality.
