Listen "Benjamin Kaltenecker (Line Producer) Interview"
Episode Synopsis
In this podcast, Marc and Greg interview Voltron Legendary Defender Line Producer Benjamin Kaltenecker. Benjamin, other than having his last name as the cow character in the second season episode, Space Mall, has a huge responsibility at DreamWorks Animation for making sure every episode of the show is on time and on budget. We learn more about his job and everything that goes into making episodes of Voltron Legendary Defender on Netflix.
Benjamin Kaltenecker has the distinction of graduating from the same University as Greg Tyler, the University of Dayton in Ohio. Small world! Beyond that, we learned so much more in this interview. Did you know you can have a job working on an animated TV show, and not have any skills in art or animation? Benjamin gives us the whole process from Pre-Production, Main Production and Post-Production for how an episode of Voltron Legendary Defender is made, as well as his own personal journey that brought him to where he is now at DreamWorks Animation. You may have to listen to this podcast interview several times before you get it all down. There's so much going on, and literally hundreds of people, that are involved in bringing together this high-quality production.
Oh, and of course, Benjamin tells the story about how he was named after the cow in Space Mall. Kaltenecker has become a fan favorite, and Benjamin even gives us insight into an easter egg you might not have noticed, or if you did, what it comes from. And Benjamin Kaltenecker also had the opportunity to introduce an episode from Voltron84, another offering of pre-selected episodes of the Original Voltron: Defender of the Universe series, from Netflix. The episode he introduces is "Secret of the White Lion", and Benjamin goes into more detail about why that episode was so special for him.
Here's a rare behind-the-scenes look at how Marc was costumed while talking to Benjamin Kaltenecker during the recording of this podcast:
Also in this podcast, Marc and Greg discuss a suggestion that came from one of the fans by email. And there are lots of New Era hat designs available in the Voltron store. There are two new t-shirts mentioned in this podcast. Here are links to those 2 shirts:

For our next podcast, we get back to reviewing episodes from Season 2 of Voltron Legendary Defender with our review of Episode 4: Greening the Cube!
