In this episode, Kwame speaks with Brian Baptista, Special Advisor to the Executive Director of CAFOR. Based in Ethiopia, the Coalition on Media and Education for Development Africa Forum (CAFOR) is a non-profit under the African Union. It comprises of various organisations, experts and individuals who are committed to ensuring that education systems in Africa are relevant to young Africans.
Brian shares key flagship projects that CAFOR runs across Africa, including the Africa Digital Library, the TVET Digital Library, Teacher Training Using an AI Chatbox on WhatsApp, and the African Learning Platform, among others. The African TVET Library, for example, is the first library in Africa to harness the best learning materials from over 209 TVET organisations across Africa into a digital library to accelerate learning.
Brian shares his thoughts on Relevant Education for young people in Africa, making a case for an education system that adapts to the needs of young people today and makes the best of technological advancement.
