He gained widespread recognition for his role in the popular Jamaican television series "Oliver At Large," which aired during the 1980s and 1990s, which showcased his unique ability to capture the essence of Jamaican life and culture, making him a beloved figure in households across the Caribbean and its diaspora. Aside from his television work, Oliver has made significant contributions to theater. Writing, producing, and starring in numerous plays that have captivated audiences for decades. These productions not only showcase his comedic prowess but also address important social issues in a lighthearted yet thought-provoking manner. Through his work, Oliver has not only brought laughter to countless individuals but has also played a role in preserving and celebrating Jamaican culture. As a result of his impact and positive representation of Jamaica, he was conferred with the Order of Distinction in 1978 and Commander of Distinction in 2020, and received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
