Listen "Let’s Focus on God - Understanding the Meaning of Faith - Episode Four"
Episode Synopsis
Hi, everyone! I'm back, online and ready to discuss the Bible! In this podcast, I will be reviewing the subject of faith. I was driven to create the podcast because it's something a lot of people, including myself, struggle with. But things are slowly improving! I will present my topic in the best way possible and hope that anyone who's falling short of faith will get a better understanding of it after hearing what was said. (The original episode was created on: August 28, 2021) This Episode's Podcast Transcripts: Hello! This is Autumn Rountree returning for another podcast. It's been a while since I've last been on, and that's because I was trying to figure out a biblical topic to study and press upon. So, I finally settled on the subject of faith. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss this one because a lot of people, including myself, have a weakness in this area. But before I get started with the program, I'd like to open up in prayer. Let's pray. Dear god, thank you for allowing another opportunity for others to hear this podcast. Grant the listeners a chance to realize the meaning of faith and how to live by it. Help me as well as those who need strength through struggles and doubt. Help us all learn to understand what faith can do through this faith lesson today. Amen and amen. I hope this lesson on faith will provide answers to questions regarding what exactly is faith, plus what can it do for us. I challenged myself by looking up ways to improve faith and how to grow into it. One reference about this can be found on: www.conformingtojesus.com under What is Faith. I'm going to review some essential findings. According to the website, the biblical definition and meaning of faith is found in Hebrews eleven one, now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the well-established and firm foundational structure that stands under and supports the expectation of something whose fulfillment is sure as it will certainly happen based on the knowledge that we that we have. Faith is the verified and established proof of things that we have not yet seen happen, but that will surely happen based on everything that we have learned throughout time and know. So, what is faith in God? How can we have faith and trust in God? How can faith and trust in God grow? Faith in God is based on knowing him and establishing a strong and lasting relationship with him. When we know someone well and we know that this individual is dependable, trustable, and reliable, then we can have faith in him or her. Same thing happens when we get to know God and establish a relationship with him. We learn more and more about him as we go, and we learn that he is dependable, trustable, and reliable. We learn that we can rest assured that God is a soft spot where to land and a loving, protective father that shelters His children and keeps His word and covenant with them. Romans ten seventeen. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. This means that faith comes by understanding and obeying the word of God. Faith is understanding completely the things hoped for and that by which things not seen yet have been tested and proved in the past as we have obeyed and have seen the positive results of our obedience in our life. Faith is energized and empowered and becomes effectual by walking in God's commandments. Faith grows by obedience. Another website, Beliefnet, shows how we can build godly faith. Faith is recognized by most as the single most important element in Christian life. We are told in Hebrews eleven one that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the convictions of things not seen. When we have faith in God, we trust not only that he is there but also in His promises. Hebrews eleven six reminds us that without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Trusting in God and His promises requires faith. But how do we build godly faith in a world of sin and brokenness? Another way to build godly faith is through prayer. Acknowledge our heavenly father as holy. Start with my father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Matthew six nine. Ask God for the fullness of the holy spirit to be at play in your life. If you then who are evil know how to give good gifts to your holy children, how much more will the heavenly father give the holy spirit to those who (who) ask him? Luke eleven thirteen. We build godly faith when we give all our all of our heart and mind to God, not things of the world. Matthew six twenty-one is a great reminder of this. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Proverbs also reminds us that it that it it's important that we protect our hearts. There are plenty of people in the bible who were big on faith. The following seven biblical characters were known for their trust in God at all costs. The first one on the list is Noah. Noah put His trust in God before, during, and after the flood. He had faith that God would get him through the big storm even if other people didn't believe that. Read Genesis chapter six verses seven to 22. The second one is Nehemiah. Nehemiah took time to pray to God about the needs of a temple he wanted repaired in Jerusalem. Even though he was upset, he continuously spoke out to God and pursued what he had set out to do. By doing this, he was able to bring His people together by upstanding their faith. Read Nehemiah chapter two verses 12 to 20. The third person representing faith is Job. Job never lost hope despite the horrible circumstances he was given to deal with. Regardless, he kept His faith in God no matter what. Read Job chapter one verses one to 22. The fourth person is Joseph. Joseph honored God and did right no matter what happened to him. His undying faith kept him safe and secure despite the constant disrespect he received during part of His lifetime. Read Genesis chapter 37 and verse four. Genesis chapter 37 verses 18 to 35, and Genesis chapter 39 verses seven to 23. The fifth person marked by faith is Ruth. Ruth had a period where she lost some of her family but couldn't leave her land due to the love of the closest people around her. She never strayed, and God gave her a new family because she hadn't given up hope. Read Ruth chapter one verse four, Genesis chapter 11 verse 31, Genesis chapter 19 verse 37, Ruth chapter two verses 10 through 13, Ruth chapter three verses two to five, and Ruth chapter four verse 13. The sixth person is Elijah. Elijah is known for prophesying drought and soon being fed by ravens and a widow before His noble challenge to the prophets of Baal on Mount Horeb. His faith moved the Lord God to answer by fire, and Elijah killed all the false prophets, then prophesied rain. Read first Kings chapter 17 verses one through six, first Kings chapter 17 verses seven through 24, and first Kings chapter 19. The seventh and last person of faith for this podcast is Daniel. Daniel disobeys the Persian king by praying to God as he always has done. As a result, he is thrown into a den of lions as a punishment. Throughout this ordeal, he continues to pray to God, and His faith indeed rescues him from the dangerous lions. Lastly, I want to include that there are quite a few Bible verses that mention faith as I wrap up this podcast. I will be providing 10 of the best ones. Ephesians chapter two verse eight, Hebrews chapter 11 verse one, Hebrews chapter 11 verse six, Matthew chapter 21 verse 21, Romans chapter 10 verse 17, James chapter two verse 24, Luke chapter 17 verse five, Ephesians chapter six verse sixteen, first Corinthians chapter 16 verse 13, and Romans chapter one verse seventeen. I know that sometimes I miss out on what God's telling me, and I find myself going back to review the Bible, conducting thorough searches on what he's trying to say. Learning what the Bible teaches is crucial when navigating through today's world because you could end up missing a line if you're not paying attention. For your reference, I will put the websites that were mentioned with their entire links on my podcast page.
