Listen "Shhh… Don’t Tell Anyone, But I Feel Like a Fraud Pt. 1"
Episode Synopsis
When I started this podcast, I had big visions of talking about imposter syndrome, really getting into it, sharing how it feels, and most importantly how I’ve been moving past it. But if we’re being honest, it’s taken me this long to bring it up… because it’s hard.Feeling like a fraud is one thing. Admitting it? Dang.Somehow I managed to convince the one and only Lesley to join me on the podcast to talk about it!What I didn’t mention during the episode is just how much I look up to Lesley. I admire everything she’s done and continues to do, and yet she feels the exact same way I do. It’s equal parts reassuring and disappointing that this is such a widely shared experience. We chatted about some of the common causes: perfectionism, social comparison, pressure from others, and the high standards we set for ourselves. We also broke down four different imposter “types” that Dr. Valerie Young outlines:The Perfectionist – One typo and you’re spiralling. The Expert – You must know everything before speaking up.The Soloist – Asking for help = failure. The Superhero – You work harder than everyone else just to feel “enough.”Maybe you see yourself in one of these buckets… but either way, trust me, you’re not alone.Join us for Part 2 of the conversation, where we share tips and tactics for moving past imposter syndrome, or at the very least, tools to help you keep going despite the feelings. If you’re feeling generous, leave us a little love with a rating or review on whatever platform you’re listening on!Catch us on:Insta: @letscirclebackwithbecs.pod 🤍TikTok: @letscirclebackwithbecs 🤍
