Joseph stands out as a great patriarchal figure, similar to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Although he was the 11th son of Jacob, he was the first son of Jacob’s true love, Rachel. Joseph’s early life with his brothers was turbulent, and Jacob’s family was heading for trouble. In today’s lesson we will see how God used tough training to providentially set Joseph apart as be the instrument of salvation for his family.
