Listen "Lowering the Bar for DUI Convictions"
Episode Synopsis
When the big national push for a crackdown on drinking and driving began, most states adopted a .10 blood alcohol limit as the standard. If you were stopped and your blood read a higher number, you could likely be charged and convicted with DUI. Later, many states tried to further curb alcohol related accidents by lowering the standard to .08 BAC in hopes that drivers who do drink would consume less alcohol before getting behind the wheel. Now, one state has introduced legislation to further lower its limit to .05. Is this to increase safety on the road? Is it meant to legislate morality in some way? Or is it a money grab for the state? Franz and Rich dig into the newly proposed DUI standard in this episode of Legally Unfiltered.
