So our attention passes important sensory information to our working memory and our working memory actively processes both new input, pulled from sensory memory, and previously learned information, retrieved from our long term memory. What we need to do is support this process for our learners.  Selecting the key points aids our attention and promotes active involvement with content. Organising content enables our working memory to function optimally. Associating and integrating promote encoding to and retrieval from long-term memory respectively. Reflecting is the metacognitive stage where we think about what we learn and how we learn.
