In this episode we look at the roots and beginnings of modern day leadership thinking in the early 1900s and the birth of the functionalist approach with Taylor and Fayol's scientific management, contrasted with the sociology of organisations with Max Weber's bureaucratic management and finally the behavioural approach sparked by the accidental discoveries of the Hawthorne effect.
