AI is the pioneering end of computer science. Data and AI are merging into a synergistic relationship, where AI is useless without data. Africa has over 2000 languages; however, those languages are still called “under-represented languages” in the existing Natural Language Processing ecosystem.  This talk is about discussing the situation of African NLP by presenting case studies of how to collect data, preprocess data, and apply deep learning models.
