Listen "SEPTA less than halfway finished with federally mandated rail car inspections"
Episode Synopsis
With four days until Friday’s deadline, SEPTA is less than halfway finished with fire inspections on its aging rail cars.
As of Monday, SEPTA has completed inspections on 95 of its 225 Silverliner IV (“four”) cars, with 30 of them returned to service. The Federal Railroad Administration at the beginning of October gave SEPTA 30 days to inspect its fleet of 50-year-old cars, after five fires this year. Commuters have endured delays and packed trains during the inspections.
